I’m a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother. Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to live in different places that exposed me to different ways and people. I was born in Manila (Philippines), grew up in the small city of Bacolod, moved back to Manila when I finished uni, and for several years moved from one city to another more than 5x within the National Capital Region and Pampanga.

When my husband and I got married in 2014, we found our permanent home in the southern part of Metro Manila. But after staying there for 3 years, we started entertaining the idea of living abroad in the hope of providing a better future for our son. As of writing, we are here in Auckland, New Zealand but who knows where God takes us next? It doesn’t really matter because where my family is, for me that’s where home is.

I’m a proud mom to a handsome boy who’s a spitting image of his dad. I would like to believe that being a mom has made me a better version of myself in more ways than I initially imagined. Every day is just full of surprises with our little boy. But I have to admit that motherhood can sometimes get frustrating especially if you’re also a working mom, but most times it’s exciting and fulfilling. Every step I take, every decision I make all comes down to what’s ultimately good for my child, for our family.

I absolutely love to travel. I dream of traveling to more places around the world with my husband and son. I have been to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Maldives and it is our goal to add more to this list. Italy, Greece and Israel are my dream destinations which I hope to set foot in in this lifetime.

Career-wise, I’m a digital strategist. I started out as a web copywriter/SEO Specialist many moons ago, moved on to become a digital marketer and later an ecommerce manager, and now I’m currently getting my feet wet in the very niche areas of conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and user experience (UX) for an NZ insurance company.

I have been blogging since 2004, albeit sporadically. Between then and now, I write random stuff about what I do, where I’ve been, the people I love, and just about anything that I feel deserves my time killing brain cells over to weave words and photographs. Evidently, I have a love-hate relationship with blogging. I hate how I feel pressured to write every time I remember I have a blog, but I love the feeling of ‘release’ every time I actually finish a post and hit publish.

Now that I have just embarked on this new adventure in a new place, this blog will  be covering topics about the life my little family is starting out here in New Zealand. Intentionally or not, I tend to do a lot of things in my life on a whim. I guess that’s how I get by and it works for me. This blog has been and will be continuing to document my “little whims.”

Above everything, I am a Christian. I believe in the one true God and that salvation is only through His son, Jesus Christ. Through all the ups and downs, my faith in Christ remains the anchor and the driving force in my life. One day when I’m face-to-face with my Savior, I would also like to be able to say that “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7).

Welcome and enjoy your stay! :)

I saw your post in Gail Villanueva’s blog about paypal and I’d like to ask for your help sana. Will you pls. give me instructions on how I can transfer the money from my paypal acct to my bpi savings acct. I think they ask for information like bank code and of course the acct number. The acct number for bpi is only 10-digits long while in the paypal screen you have to enter 16-digits number. Pls help me. Thanks!

  • Joni

Hi Malou! Bank code for BPI is 010040018. Paypal is only asking for 9 digits. On your dashboard, click “Withdraw” > “Withdraw funds to your bank account” > “Add bank account”. Your paypal account needs to be verified before you’d be able to do this.

Joni, you are the best! I have been using your website design, Forever Autumn 1.0, for our church’s website for almost a year. I got it through WordPress. Now I read that you are a Christian. How amazing! Happy Thanksgiving!

    Hi Joni,

I’m a psychologist in the US (Hartford, CT). I’ve been looking for a WordPress template for a revamp of our charitable agency’s website (Volunteers In Psychotherapy) … and in searching 3 column free options, I saw your Daily Digest 3.0 …. but everytime I try to preview it, I’m redirected to other templates.

Can you tell me if it’s still available? Thanks for any help you can give us… it looks like something we might modify to suit our site.

    Hi Joni,
Liked your blog. Loved the photos.
I am an Irish born newbie “how-to” e-book writer/wouldfd-be online publisher.
I need a simple blog an a website I can hopefully manage myself and use to promote my ebooks. What might it cost please?

    Cheers and best wishes.
